Rescuers found eight bodies in a river in Bangladesh Wednesday, bringing to 12 the confirmed death toll from a ferry capsize in a river, dpa quoted officials as saying. Coast Guard officials retrieved four bodies in the southern district of Bhola, 90 kilometres south of the accident site, and two in each of adjoining Sariatpur and Chandpur districts. "Strong current in the river might have taken the bodies far away from the accident site," chief administrator of Bhola district Mohammad Selim Reza told dpa by telephone. Many people are missing after the vessel sank Monday in the Padma river in Munshiganj district. About 110 of the estimated 250 passengers swam ashore or were rescued, Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan said.
