Brazil President Dilma Rousseff met with Russia's Vladimir Putin on Monday to discuss the creation of a bank to promote growth in Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa (BRICS). Rousseff received Putin in the presidential palace in Brasilia, a day before meeting with the leaders of the BRICS nations in the northeastern city of Fortaleza. Rousseff told reporters that the meeting would focus on creation of the bank. The five countries "are among the largest in the world and cannot content themselves in the middle of the twenty-first century with any kind of dependency," she said.
