Following several delays since May, Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (SpaceX) on Monday launched a rocket carrying communication satellites. The Falcon rocket launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florrida carrying six advanced satellites for U.S.-based Orbcomm. Eleven more of the same satellites are to be launched in the coming year. The 170-kilogram satellites will offer two-way data links to help customers track, monitor, and control transportation and logistics assets, heavy equipment, oil and natural-gas infrastructure, ships and buoys, and government-owned equipment. SpaceX also works to ferry space-station equipment for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
