The International Space Station is set to receive its first commercial cargo shipment in early May, the Associated Press reported Monday. SpaceX, or Space Exploration Technologies, will launch its Dragon capsule from Cape Canaveral, Florida on April 30, and it will arrive at the space station a few days later. The launch was scheduled to occur in February, but it was delayed for additional testing. The delivery will mark the first time a private company launches space station supplies. It will also be the first U.S. delivery since the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) stopped flying its space shuttles last year. Russia, Europe and Japan have been using unmanned cargo ships to fly to the station, with NASA astronauts hitching rides on the Russian vessels.
