The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has held recently a major celebration on the occasion of the orphan day in the Muslim world at the headquarters of the University of Dar Al-Hekma in Jeddah. In a speech on this occasion, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Iyad bin Amin Madani said that the organization and the Muslim countries will annually celebrate this day in a different Islamic capital every year, urging the Muslim world to support orphans in all member states. He said that the celebration of Orphan Day in the Islamic world represents the principles of our religion, and the application of the decision adopted by the 40th Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held in the Guinean capital, Conakry, in December 2013. Secretary General of OIC valued support by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for orphans, explaining that with this support, a program has been adopted to protect and save the children of the victims of the tsunami that hit Indonesia, adding that the program sponsored ten thousand orphans for 15 years for 5,400 dollars per child.
