Makkah Grand Mosque Library was established in the second Hijri century and it has been considered as one of the most important libraries in the Islamic world. The Library's Director and Secretary of Center of Scholarly Research and Islamic Heritage Revival Dr Fahd bin Jubair Al-Sufiani pointed out that since the beginning of the Saudi prosperous era, late King Abdulaziz (May Allah bestow mercy upon his soul) had given interest to the Library and presented it a collection of books, and it has enjoyed the State's care and attention since that time. He indicated that the library contains 160,000 books, 5,314 original manuscripts, 2500 pictorial manuscripts, and 40,000 periodicals.
