Four people are known to have died and another is missing as heavy rains have hit south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region since Thursday, local authorities said Tuesday. Some 338,000 people were affected and 4,647 relocated, Xinhua quoted the regional civil affairs department as saying. About 9,500 hectares of crops were affected in the flood and 1,170 of them will have no harvest. Almost 600 houses were destroyed and more than 1,200 damaged in the flood, which caused a direct economic loss of over 400 million yuan (64.9 million U.S. dollars), according to the department.
