One person was killed in heavy rain in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Tuesday, local authorities said. Three cities and eight counties in the region were flooded, according to the region's civil affairs department. As of 3 p.m. Wednesday, the flood has affected 24,300 people, with 202 people relocated. Ninety houses were toppled, with direct economic losses estimated at 14.4 million yuan (2.34 million U.S. dollars). The regional meteorological station forecast heavy rain will last until Thursday, Xinhua reported.
