Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has directed Eng. Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, that the Saudi Aramco Company is to build 11 sports stadiums in all regions of the Kingdom in accordance with international specifications and standards as King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah. This came in the King's cable to the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources on 5/9/1435H. The cable clarified that " this directive came upon the King's keenness in the interest of the citizens and providing the sports facilities with the suitable level in all regions. The capacity of each stadium is 45,000 persons. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Eng. Al-Naimi said that these projects will be established within "King Abdullah Program for Establishing Main Stadiums in the Kingdom's Regions". The regions are Madinah, Qassim, Eastern, Asir, Tabuk, Hail, Northern Borders, Jazan, Najran, Baha and Jouf. "Upon the royal directive, all governmental bodies will provide all facilitations in order t build these stadiums within prescribed duration and specifications. We feel proud of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' trust for implementation of these important projects, " he added. Al-Naimi disclosed that Aramco has started forming specialized work teams for taking initial steps in implementation, planning and supervision of these stadiums.
