UN Deputy Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs commends Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for his order to provide $ 500 million for Iraqi people
The United Nations Deputy Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs Valerie Amos has commended the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for his order to provide 500 million dollars in humanitarian aid for the brotherly Iraqi people. She said in a statement today that this assistance came at a convenient and critical time and will enable the humanitarian agencies of the United Nations to accelerate the strengthening of efforts to prevent the spread of disease in Iraq, support displaced families, provide them with clean water, food and vital relief materials, and provide children with vital food. She stressed that such assistance is a strong sign of international solidarity with the Iraqis in confronting the harsh conditions. She expressed deep concern about the humanitarian situation in Iraq after the fleeing of more than 1.2 million people from their homes.
