The U.N. humanitarian chief on Thursday accused the Syrian government of delaying the shipment of aid and medical supplies to opposition-held areas, by refusing to cooperate with humanitarian workers. Under-Secretary-General and Emergency Relief Coordinator Valerie Amos reported an increase in humanitarian assistance from 1 million Syrians in 2011 to 10.8 million today, including a 1.5 million increase in the last six months. Amos urged the U.N. Security Council to organize cross-border shipments from Turkey, Jordan, and Iraq.
