The State of Kuwait announced a contribution of USD 200,000 to the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, also known as UN Women, for the period 2014-2017, and that part of the sum had already been delivered as this year's annual contribution. Addressing the organization's pledging meetings here Wednesday, the Kuwaiti UN Mission's Charge d'affaires and First Secretary Abdelaziz Saud Al-Jarallah stressed Kuwait's belief that "gender equality is a main pillar of sustainable development." He further urged more cooperation between UN Women and world governments to implement comprehensive strategies in this field.
