Matias Paredes struck twice within one minute to put his Leones ahead after 55 minutes of competitive hockey. The third-place finish is Argentina's best result at the World Cup, while England equaled their result in New Delhi four years ago. Earlier, Belgium defeated Germany 4-2 to take 5th place. Tom Boon, Tanguy Cosyns, Florent van Aubel and Sebastian Dockier scored to secure a victory for the Olympic champions. New Zealand defeated Spain 4-1 in a penalty shoot-out to take 7th place. Later Sunday, the reigning champions from Australia take on host nation The Netherlands in the final, dpa reported. The women's final on Saturday was won 2-0 by The Netherlands over Australia. Argentina won Bronze after defeating the United States 2-1.
