Netherlands wins women's hockey crown

THE HAGUE — The Netherlands beat Australia 2-0 in Saturday's final to claim a record seventh title at the women's field hockey World Cup. The win reasserts Dutch dominance in the sport, as they took Olympic gold in 2012 but finished second in the 2010 World Cup in Argentina. Earlier Saturday, Luciana Aymar scored twice as defending champion Argentina beat the US 2-1 to win bronze. On Friday, defending champion Australia has beaten Argentina 5-1 and will face host nation the Netherlands in the men's final. The Netherlands beat England 1-0 with a first-half penalty corner and will play its first final since winning its third and last title on home soil 16 years ago. — AP
