Governor of the General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) Suliman bin Abdulrahman Al-Gwaiz has said in a statement that GOSI Board of Directors has recently approved a number of amendments to some provisions of the implementing regulations of the Social Insurance Law. "An amendment states ceasing the application of the Occupational Hazards Branch to non-Saudi contributors who temporarily leave the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in addition to ceasing the payment of their contributions during that period. The application of the Occupational Hazards Branch resumes as of the first of the month in which they return to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," the Governor said, adding that GOSI will inform employers about the date of applying this amendment following the completion of all automated procedures necessary for enforcing this amendment. "Another amendment states increasing the minimum contributory wage of non-Saudi contributors covered under the Occupational Hazards Branch to SR 800," the Governor said, adding that this amendment benefits the contributor and keeps pace with the remarkable increase in labor market wages. Al-Gwaiz pointed out that these amendments will come into effect as of the beginning of the next year based on the Hijrah or Gregorian calendar followed by the employer. Concluding his statement, the Governor said that these amendments come as a part of the ongoing review of the implementing regulations of the Social Insurance Law, in order to ensure their compatibility with reality and achieve the proper application and best benefits.
