Egyptians began Monday two days of voting to elect a new president. Voters queued up in large numbers at some polling stations in Cairo in the first hour of the balloting that started at 9 am (0600 GMT). Ex-army chief Abdel-Fattah al-Sissi and politician Hamdeen Sabahy are the only contenders in the election, which is to end on Tuesday, according to dpa. Thousands of security forces have been deployed across the country to secure polls. An estimated 53.9 million eligible voters are to cast ballots at 14,350 polling stations spread across Egypt's 27 provinces. Polling stations are to close at 9 pm both Monday and Tuesday. Final results are expected to be officially announced on June 5.
