German Chancellor Angela Merkel made a telephone call today with Turkish Prime Minister Tayeb Recep Erdogan during which she expressed sympathy with and sorrow for the victims of the Suma city's mine disaster where more than 300 persons were killed. During the meeting, they also discussed the Ukraine crisis with the two agreeing that Russia's annexation of the Crimea peninsula was illegal.
