A subway train derailed in New York's Queens neighborhood Friday injuring 19 people and trapping about 1,000 passengers underground for almost two hours, The New York Times reported, dpa reported. The derailment, in which four people sustained serious injuries, is currently under investigation by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Bruce Bernstein, a passenger on the train, said he spent two hours underground. "It was a jolt," Bernstein told The New York Times. "The cars were tilted very badly." While the derailment affected several subway lines, authorities said trains would be running again during the evening rush hour. The New York subway system, which is more than 100 years old, has 24 subway lines and transports about 5 million people daily. -- SPA 22:50 LOCAL TIME 19:50 GMT تغريد
