At least five army recruits were killed in a suicide bombing Wednesday in northern Iraq, as the country is preparing for crucial parliamentary elections, dpa cited police as saying. The bomber, who was wearing a belt packed with explosives, targeted dozens of recruits at an army centre in the city of Kirkuk, Alsumaria TV reported citing an unnamed security official. Some 25 recruits were wounded in the attack, the latest in a surge of violence ahead of parliamentary elections scheduled for April 30.
