Crimean parliament votes for independence

Lamwakers in Crimea on Monday declared the Black
Sea peninsula's independence from Ukraine and officially asked Russia
for accession, dpa quoted the parliament as saying.
85 of the nominally 99 deputies backed the declaration
in an extraordinary session.
The declaration also says that Crimean authorities now have full
control of Ukrainian state instituitions and property located in the
region.
