Ten people were killed Monday in clashes between government security forces and communist rebels who attacked a police station in the southern Philippines, dpa cited the military and police as saying. Two police officers were killed and three injured when about 100 guerrillas swooped down on their station in Matanao town in Davao del Sur province, 990 kilometres south of Manila, before dawn, police regional spokesman Chief Inspector Jed Clamor said. Six soldiers were killed and eight wounded when the guerrillas detonated a landmine as they fled, army Captain William Alfred Rodriguez said.
