Under directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud that simultaneous translation of the Friday sermon speeches at the Makkah-based Grand Mosque and Madinah-based Prophet's Mosques be offered to non-Arabic speakers, the first experiment of simultaneous translation of Friday prayers speech at the Makkah-based Grand Mosque in English and Urdu languages was conducted today. Officials said the experiment was done at certain sectors of the mosque giving two segments of worshippers the chance to listen to the translation, with the aim to expand it to cover all parts of the mosque before moving to cover the Madinah-based Prophet's Mosque. Today's translation, listening and outcome were termed excellent, officials said.
