The European Union today welcomed the success of the national dialogue in Yemen, lauding the spirit of cooperation demonstrated by representatives who attended the dialogue sessions as well as the role played by President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi. In a statement, the European foreign ministers said the national dialogue in Yemen has offered an example that should be followed as negotiators enjoyed an open-for-all consultation process, adding that this development represents the end of the main phase of the transitional process in Yemen implemented on the bases of the GCC initiative in 2011. The statement said focus should now point to the steps of the constituent phase that includes writing a new constitution that maintains the sovereignty, unity, independence and integrity of the territories of Yemen to implement the outcome of the national dialogue and, organize a time-tabled plebiscite on the constitution and legislative elections with all the required transparency. The European Union reiterated its commitment to increase its support for the Yemeni government, denouncing the acts that threaten to demolish the State's institutions as well as the transitional process, citing the recent violent wave and attacks.
