Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt on Monday reshuffled her cabinet after a junior member left the ruling coalition over the planned sale of a stake in a state-controlled energy group to the US investment bank Goldman Sachs, dpa reported. The revamped 20-member cabinet is made up of Thorning-Schmidt's Social Democrats and the Social Liberals after the Socialist People's Party left the coalition Thursday. Martin Lidegaard of the Social Liberals is to take over as foreign minister, one of the six cabinet posts previously held by the Socialist People's Party. Thorning-Schmidt's government, in office since 2011, is expected to seek support from the Socialist People's Party and the leftist Unity List to gain a majority in parliament. During its term, the government has also reached agreements with opposition centre-right parties. Half of the 20 cabinet members kept their posts, including Social Liberals leader Margrethe Vestager, minister for economics and the interior. There were also no changes to the ministers for finance, justice and defence.
