Danish opposition leader Helle Thorning-Schmidt was Friday given the task of forming a new government, a day after a left-leaning bloc won parliamentary elections, dpa reported. Thorning-Schmidt of the Social Democrats had been favoured to lead efforts to form the new government. The Social Democrat leader confirmed she would seek a three-party government comprising her party, the Socialist People's Party, and the Social Liberals. It would also rely on support from the leftist Unity List.
