A Pakistani official says gunmen have opened fire at a group of tribal police escorting a Spanish cyclist, killing six policemen and wounding the Spaniard, AP reported. The police official, Mohammad Ibrahim, says the attack took place in the district of Mastung in the impoverished southern Baluchistan province. Ibrahim says nine officers were also wounded in Wednesday's attack. More than a dozen tribal policemen were escorting the Spanish cyclist who was touring the country. His name was not immediately available. It's customary in Pakistan to have police escort foreigners.
