At least 18 migrants died Wednesday when a boat capsized off the Turks and Caicos Islands, the government said in a statement according to dpa. A boat carrying suspected illegal immigrants to the Caribbean British territory was intercepted by police early Wednesday and capsized as it was being towed into port at 5:17 am (1017 GMT). Police were able to rescue 32 people from the water and they were being held by authorities. Eighteen bodies had been recovered and search efforts were continuing, officials said. Some of the migrants may have reached shore and fled the scene and police were also searching for those individuals, the governor's office said.
