A sailboat packed with migrants has overturned in the Turks and Caicos Islands and officials say they've confirmed several casualties, according to AP. Government spokesman Neil Smith says it appears there have been at least several deaths, and a search and rescue effort is underway. Inspector Calvin Chase of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force says two bodies have been recovered. Smith says that officers early Wednesday had stopped the overloaded boat filled with migrants believed to be from Haiti. Police were escorting the vessel to the island of Providenciales when it capsized near shore. Smith said several migrants escaped to shore and police detained about 30 others.
