The United States has evacuated three flights of citizens from South Sudan amid fighting in the country, the State Department said Wednesday according to dpa. Two military C-130 aircraft and a private charter flight departed Juba with embassy personnel, private citizens and citizens of other countries, spokeswoman Marie Harf said, adding that US officials would arrange for additional evacuations if needed. "The United States is deeply troubled by the recent fighting in South Sudan," Harf said. "We call on the country's political leaders to refrain from any action that could escalate an already tense situation or fuel the violence. It is absolutely critical that political differences be resolved by peaceful and democratic means."
