The United States on Tuesday ordered all non-essential embassy staff to depart South Sudan amid an eruption of fierce fighting, and urged all Americans to leave the country immediately. "The Department of State ordered the departure of non-emergency U.S. government personnel from South Sudan because of ongoing political and social unrest," it said in a statement. The U.S. embassy in the capital, Juba, was suspending "normal operations until further notice and cannot provide routine consular services to U.S. citizens in South Sudan," the travel warning said.
