President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita's Rally for Mali party won the nation's recent legislative elections, with 60 of the 147 seats in parliament, election officials announced late on Tuesday, dpa reported. According to the provisional results, 37.24 per cent of Mali's 6 million registered voters participated in the second round of the polls on December 15, Interior Minister Moussa Coulibaly Sinko told journalists in the capital, Bamako. Opposition party Alliance for Democracy in Mali won 21 seats; followed by Union for the Republic and Democracy with 17 seats; and Fare Anka and the Convergence for the Development of Mali with 5 seats each. The National Congress for Democratic Initiative, Alliance for the Solidarity of Mali and the African Solidarity for Democracy and Independence gained 4 seats each. The Party for National Rebirth won 3 seats, while Yelema will have 2 representatives in parliament. Independent candidates won a total of 16 seats. The constitutional court is expected to announce final results within the next few days.
