The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was elected to the membership of the Coordinating Committee for the implementation of the framework for tourism development and cooperation among the member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)'s Tourism Ministers. This came at the conclusion of the 8th session of the meeting of OIC's Tourism Ministers, which was held recently in the city of Banjul, capital of Gambia. Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) participated in the meeting as a representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Gambian Deputy Premier opened the meeting on behalf of the President of the Republic of Gambia, in the presence of OIC Secretary General, Gambian Minister of Tourism, representatives of the 27 OIC's member States, participation of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the Arab Tourism Organization. The request of the Republic of Niger to host the 9th session of the OIC's Tourism Ministers in December 2015 was approved.
