Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues. Most newspapers focused on the convening of the Gulf Cooperation Council summit which begins in Kuwait today and the importance of union among the GCC countries. On Syria, Alsharq newspaper denied fabrications of Al-Assad's regime against the kingdom and attacked the regime for killing its own people. On another matter, Alwatan newspaper criticized the contradictory positions of leaders of major powers and the United Nations Organization toward the Palestinian cause vis-a-vis their positions toward Nelson Mandela.
