Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense, chaired the Cabinet's session at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh on Monday afternoon. The Minister of Culture and Information, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohieddin Khoja said in a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the session that the Cabinet reviewed a number of reports on the development of the situations at Arab and Islamic arenas. The Cabinet was briefed in this context on a report on the situation of the Muslim minority in Myanmar subjected to abuses, campaigns of ethnic cleansing and criminal acts for their displacement from their homeland, renewing the Kingdom's appeals to the international community to provide assistance to them and ensure its access to the affected people and emphasis on the importance of the restoration of Muslims in Myanmar for all their human rights as well as ending of injustice to them and providing protection to ensure a decent life for them. The Cabinet commended in this regard the efforts exerted by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation aimed at urging the authorities in Myanmar to address the problems of human rights, citizenship, economic opportunities and developments that harm the Muslim minority, also praising the Organization's willingness to contribute to the process of reconstruction and humanitarian assistance to the affected people in the state of Arakan. The Minister noted that the Cabinet expressed its congratulations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the Crown Prince on the Kingdom's election as member of the Human Rights Council by the General Assembly of the United Nations for three years for a third term, embodying the Kingdom's high international status and its efforts in strengthening justice, equality and the protection of human rights at the local and international arenas as well as its firm positions toward fair human rights issues in the world. The Cabinet appreciated the winning of the Kingdom, represented by Saudi Red Crescent Authority, for the first time in its history, of a seat on the Board of Directors of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies for Asia and the Pacific for a four-year term, stressing that the confidence of the societies of the International Federation in the Kingdom comes as a result of contributions and great efforts exerted by Saudi Red Crescent Authority in the name of the Kingdom for the needy people and those affected by disasters in different parts of the world. --More 15:23 LOCAL TIME 12:23 GMT تغريد
