AlHijjah 12, 1433, Oct 28, 2012, SPA -- Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Member States, today strongly condemned the acts of communal violence targeting the Muslim Rohingas minority in Arakan province in Myanmar. In a press statement, he described the atrocities committed against the Rohingas as contravening international, ethical and human principles, urging an end to violence. The GCC Secretary General called on Myanmar Government to assume its political and legal responsibilities and intervene immediately to protect the Muslim Rohingas in Arakan province. Al-Zayani also urged the international community to intervene immediately to protect the Rohingas and dispatch humanitarian relief aid.
