A tropical cyclone has killed about 100 people in the coastal areas of Somalia's northern state of Puntland, officials said Monday. According to dpa, thousands of people fled their homes when the storm hit on Sunday. "I'm announcing a state of emergency because we are experiencing deadly cyclones, life-threatening cold storms, flooding and heavy rains," Puntland president Abdirahman Sheikh Mohamud Farole told journalists in the town of Garowe. The coastal towns of Eyl, Dan Goroyo and Bayle have been most affected, according to Farole.
