U.S. stocks closed higher Wednesday, as the Dow rose to an all-time high. The dollar gained ground against the pound, but lost ground versus the euro and the yen. Light sweet crude oil for December delivery rose $1.43 to $94.80 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Gold futures climbed $9.70 to $1,317.80 an ounce. The Dow Jones industrial average moved up 128.66, or 0.82 percent, to 15,746.88. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 7.52, or 0.43 percent, to 1,770.49. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite fell 7.91, or 0.20 percent, to 3,931.95.
