Lakhdar Ibrahimi, the Arab UN joint envoy for the Syrian crisis, confirmed today that no date was set yet to convene Geneva 2, noting that the current obstacle is how to compose an acceptable-to-all Syrian opposition delegation to the conference. In a press conference following his meetings with representatives of the Security Council permanent members in addition to Syria's neighbors: Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey, Ibrahim said the Syrian opposition will hold several meetings on 9th, 22nd and 23rd of November to form their delegation to Geneva 2, describing the move, if turned successful, as an important step towards Geneva 2. He underscored the importance of holding Geneva 2 without advance conditions, noting that political solution is the only way to solve the Syrian struggle. He also noted that a preparatory meeting will take place in Geneva between the United Nations, United States and Russia on November 25.
