Interior minister tapped as replacement by Georgian prime minister

AlHijjah 28, 1434, Nov 2, 2013, SPA -- Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili on Saturday selected Georgia's 31-year-old interior minister as his successor, as Ivanishvili said he would retire from active politics after a year in office, dpa reported.
The selection of Irakili Garibashvili must be approved by Parliament, which is controlled by Ivanishvili's ruling Georgia Dream coalition.
Garibashvili said that he intended to continue Ivanishvili's policies, as he prepares to take the former Soviet republic's most powerful job.
The announcement followed a presidential election at the end of October that was won by another ally of Ivanishvili, Giorgi Margvelashvili.
