AlHijjah 17, 1434, Oct 22, 2013, SPA -- Director General of The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) José Graziano da Silva called for the monitoring of food materials to protect against further wasting of vital resources. He also stressed the need for containing the problem as well as for stepping up efforts aimed at eliminating hunger worldwide. At the World Forum for Green Growth, Silva pointed out that a third (1.3 million tons) of the world's consumer products are wasted each year at a cost of 750 billion dollars.
