The new head of the United Nation's food security organization on Tuesday said he would boost support to the poorest countries while also cutting administrative costs, dpa reported. Two days after taking over, Jose Graziano da Silva told reporters in Rome that the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) would focus on those countries facing prolonged crises. "Ending hunger requires the commitment of everyone: neither FAO nor any other agency or government will win this war alone," he said. Graziano da Silva also said that rebuilding trust between the organization and its member states was a top priority and that he wanted to do so by "promoting a transparent and constructive relationship" between the two. Planned "administrative cost-cutting and efficiency gains" would not affect the FAO's work and would instead make it "more effective and responsive," he said.
