AlHijjah 17, 1434, Oct 22, 2013, SPA -- A weakened Hurricane Raymond brought heavy rains to portions of south-central Mexico Tuesday, where weather advisories were posted, weather forecasters said, according to UPI. Raymond, a Category 3 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 115 mph, was stationary about 85 miles south-southwest of Zihuatanejo and about 140 miles west of Acapulco, the National Hurricane Center said in its 2 a.m. PDT advisory. A hurricane warning was in effect for Tecpan de Galeana to Lazaro Cardenas. A hurricane watch is in effect for Acapulco to Tecpan de Galeana. A tropical storm warning was posted for Acapulco to Tecpan de Galena. Raymond is expected to produce 4 to 8 inches of rain, with isolated amounts of 12 inches over Guerrero and Michoacan states. The rains could produce flash floods and mud slides. A storm surge, accompanied by large and destructive waves, is expected to produce significant coastal flooding in areas within the advisories.
