AlHijjah 16, 1434, Oct 21, 2013, SPA -- Algeria's Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra expressed his country's respect of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's decision for not accepting membership of the Security Council after the Kingdom is elected as a non-permanent member. In a press conference with his Burkina Faso's counterpart Djibrill Bassole, said that his country understands the Kingdom's reasons for adopting this position. "The Kingdom's decision must prompt all to think, especially the permanent members in the Security Council. The Kingdom apologized the Security Council's membership until the council is reformed and enabled, effectively and practically, to carry out its duties and assume its responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security," the Algerian Foreign Minister said. On the other hand, Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Ahmad Karti said that Sudan agrees and sympathizes with the stance taken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia towards the Security Council. In a statement issued today, Karti added that the Kingdom's stance must be a start for a wide move at the level of the Arab League and the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation to define stance of the member states regarding reform's issue of the Security Council.
