Former head of Chilean secret police in suicide over jail worries

AlQa'dah 22, 1434, Sep 28, 2013, SPA -- The imprisoned former head of Chile's secret police has committed suicide, reported local media Saturday citing
police officials, apparently out of worries that he would be
transferred to a different prison with fewer amenities.
Odlanier Mena, 87, was found dead in his home, which he visited
every Friday through Sunday as part of a home visit programme at his
current jail, Penal Cordillera. The facility has a reputation as
being luxurious and houses 10 former military leaders of the Pinochet
dictatorship, all on charges of human rights abuses, dpa reported.
