AlQa'dah 12, 1434, Sep 18, 2013, SPA -- Eight people have died and three others are missing after rain-triggered landslides in southwest China's Sichuan Province, local authorities said Wednesday. Heavy rain lashed the city of Yibin from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning, with precipitation in some townships exceeding 100 mm, Xinhua quoted the city government as saying in a statement. The rainstorms wreaked havoc in six townships in two counties of Yibin, it said. Apart from the 11 dead and missing, two others were injured. The search operation for the missing people is ongoing. The city government has ordered checks for potential geological hazards and stepped up pre-warning and forecasting of any possible disasters.
