AlQa'dah 5, 1434, Sep 11, 2013, SPA -- The Spokesperson of the Organization of Islamic Organization (OIC) Secretary General said today that the Secretary General expressed concern at the incidents of communal violence that have erupted in several villages in India's Uttar Pradesh state during the past few days. The initial reports indicate that more than 28 people have been killed and hundreds of Muslim families have fled their homes and villages and have been subject to intimidation and violence. The OIC Spokesperson added that the OIC urges the Indian authorities to restore calm and protect the lives, property and places of worship of Muslims citizens of India and bring the perpetrators of violence to justice. The OIC Spokesperson expressed concern that the communal tension between Hindu and Muslims may spread to other regions of the country if it is not addressed properly. The OIC is willing to lend its support to all serious endeavors to bring peace and harmony between the two communities in the country.
