Tropical Storm Juliette was moving northwest along the Pacific coast of Mexico's Baja California peninsula Thursday, bringing wind and rain. The storm's maximum sustained winds early Thursday decreased to near 75 kilometers per hour (kph). A tropical storm warning was extended northward and was in effect for the peninsula's west coast from Agua Blanca to Punta Eugenia and for the east coast from La Paz to San Evaristo. As the storm bore down Wednesday in Cabo San Lucas, police officers used their patrol cars' speakers to warn people in neighborhoods prone to flooding and urge them to go to one of 164 shelters set up by authorities. The storm was moving near 35 kph and was expected to lose tropical storm strength by late Thursday or early Friday.
