Afghan President Hamid Karzai extended his visit to Islamabad by a second day Tuesday, to discuss "very specific issues" on how Pakistan can support Kabul's talks with the Taliban, an official said. At a first meeting on Monday, Karzai urged Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to encourage the Taliban to rejoin the stalled direct reconciliation talks with Kabul. An official at Pakistan Foreign Ministry said that "details of setting up talks and the release of more Taliban prisoners from Pakistani jails are on the table" for Tuesday's talks. Karzai said on Monday after meeting Sharif that he hoped Pakistan would "facilitate and help in [whatever] manner it can to the peace process" by providing "an opportunity or platform for talks."
