At least 18 Indian sailors were feared dead on Wednesday following huge explosions and a fire on board a submarine docked in Mumbai, officials said. According to dpa, the blaze engulfed the newly-upgraded INS Sindhurakshak at the naval dockyard shortly after midnight. Firefighters brought the fire under control after about four hours. Indian navy chief Admiral DK Joshi said there had been no contact with any of the sailors aboard the Russian-built vessel since the explosions. "While we hope for the best, we are prepared for the worst," he told reporters in Mumbai. "The indicators are negative, but we cannot lose hope until we have sighted (bodies)," he added.
