At least 38 people died at the weekend after heavy rains caused flooding across Sudan, media report said. Dozens were injured, dpa reported. Especially hard-hit was the area around the capital, Khartoum, where the White and Blue Nile rivers meet. The victims have died since Friday in the collapse of houses, drownings and electrocutions. Anti-government protests were held in Omdurman near Khartoum with hundreds of demonstrators charging the administration with being unprepared for the emergency and carrying out insufficient rescue efforts. Police used tear gas and rubber bullets against the protesters. -- SPA 22:01 LOCAL TIME 19:01 GMT تغريد
